Don’t you just LOVE giveaways? Especially when they are part of such a wonderful celebration! I am so excited to be part of the RooMag family and also excited to give away one of my very favorite kitchen tools!

I use my Cuisinart Smart Stick immersion blender all the time. You can use it to puree soups and sauces right in the pot on the stove. If you have ever transferred hot liquid to a blender to puree, you know what a mess it can make. This tool is the solution! It also comes with attachments for chopping, grinding and whipping so it’s like four tools in one!

One of my favorite ways to use my immersion blender is to make amazingly rich and creamy gravy without adding any fat! Yup… you heard me right. Here’s how:

Arrange a bed of onions, mushrooms and a variety of root vegetables in the bottom of a roasting pan. Place a chicken, turkey, roast or other protein over the veggies. Season and roast the meat or poultry as directed in your recipe, then remove from oven.

Remove the meat or poultry to a cutting board or serving platter so you are left with a roasting pan full of juices and veggies. If you are low on juice, add a little chicken stock. Then take your immersion blender and puree the veggies with the juices. You will end up with a smooth and creamy gravy that is so flavorful you will never make gravy any other way. Seriously… I eat it with a spoon!

My immersion blender is the key to my Harvest Soup. It’s smooth and creamy and rich with flavor. You can find the recipe on my food blog, www.SheCooks.org. Serve with some crusty whole grain bread and you have a wonderful, nutrient-rich meal.

Now, because I really do love to give stuff away, I’ve got a little something extra! A few years ago I put together a cookbook for family and friends. I filled it with tried and true recipes gathered over the years, have been passed down from my grandmothers, or that I had created during my many kitchen play times. (Some women like to shop, some like to organize their closets, and me… I like to play with my food.)
